Meetings
County Councillor meetings that are not public are typically held in smaller meeting rooms and enable more focussed discussions about particular topics. Pictured is the Welsh Language Advisory Panel. On the agenda are theatre productions in Carmarthenshire and the apprenticeship recruitment within CCC. I joined the meeting remotely on this occasion. Other small panels I attend regularly are the Rural Affairs Panel, Tackling Poverty Advisory Panel.

Regulatory committees are the Planning Committee (public and webcast), Appeals Committee and the Appointments committee (private)

Scrutiny Committees (public and webcast) are the Education and Young People Scrutiny Committee and the Place Sustainability and Climate Change Scrutiny Committee.

Henllanfallteg
The community council of Henllanfallteg made a donation towards the Eisteddfod fundraising on behalf of their community. Many local people are culturally connected to this annual festival which also welcomes non - Welsh speakers to enjoy the activities. Henllanfallteg councillors are in the process of arranging defibrillator training locally following the installation of a device at Henllan Amgoed.

Housing
The application for housing on the lower creamery site has been turned down by CCC.

The application for housing on the North of Spring Gardens behind Maes Abaty and opposite Bryngwenllian has been approved and Pobl housing association are the developers.

Flooding
The proposed meeting for March 18th was postponed due to the elections. In the meantime they have appointed an officer to talk to individuals whose homes flooded to gather information on resident experiences and advise on flood support. Residents can prepare and mitigate damage to their homes and there is already very some useful practical information on the CCC website to help those at risk. Of the 49 listed communities at risk of surface water flooding in Carmarthenshire Whitland is not currently on the policy list. There is to be a Section 19 report undertaken as a follow up to Whitland as more than 20 properties were affected.

On the CCC flood page is a link to the National Resources Wales flood risk map and this is very detailed. (see map below) It shows levels of risk in shades of blue for river flooding and in shades of purple there are water courses/culverts. It is possible to zoom in to study the map more closely on the NRW website. I urge all residents who have flooded to ensure they are signed up for flood alerts from NRW. This gives you time to lift furniture up and gather essentials in case you need to evacuate. It is safer to stay at home if you can rather than add to risk by walking around in flowing flood water that may contain debris and cause manhole covers to be lifted off. Remember to get connected to neighbours so keep mobiles charged in case of a power cut in weather events. The Henllanfallteg community connection Whats App group worked very effectively in the November flood incident.
